Village Enhancement Committee Meeting Minutes March 8, 2023
Meeting opened @ 5:30 p.m.
Members present: Marie Daigle (chair), Ashley Hopwood Farrar,
Judy Lewald, Melissa Hoisington, Jed Nickerson, Jan Royall, Todd Towle, Susan Davis (via the OWL from Italy)
Members absent: Katherine Donnelly
- Motion to accept February Marie approved. Ashley seconded. All agreed.
2. Utility Box Art Project Update
Ashley completed posters. Melissa will print them. Judy and Melissa will hang them at Kingfield businesses.
Other advertising- Marie will email the Irregular and the Daily Bulldog. She will also post on the Kingfield Facebook Community Forum.
3. Riverside Project
Jan talked to Timothy Soucie at DOT. He will look over the proposal for consideration.
Bob Lightbody is the new Kingfield Code Enforcement Officer.
- Benches
There was a discussion of the materials for benches to withstand our weather. Most members thought rod iron with composite materials would be best.
Ashley goggled possible vendors and prices per bench. Kay Park has an ergonomic, rod iron and composite bench for approximately $1500.
$1500. X 6 = a $9000 budget for this project plus anchoring materials.
Judy and Melissa will walk the village sidewalks and scout possible locations for the VEG to consider before the April meeting.
We would like to take this project to the Select Board at their April meeting so we could possibly purchase the benches and have them out in June.
Jed offered to get an estimate for concrete pads and anchor bolts. There was also a discussion of offering an opportunity for residents to purchase commemorative plagues for the benches.
- Jed was approached by a resident of Kingfield about the possibly of building a dog play area somewhere in the village. This would give people a safe place to let their dogs off leash for training and play with other dogs. Many members did not think this was something we needed in town at this time.
- Tree Canopy Project was tabled for another
